I told Claire on Saturday morning that we were going swimming so we put on our bathing suits and swim shoes and gathered the pool toys and towels and headed over to the gym to go SWIMMING!! All morning she said "I go in pool" and "I go swimming" - we haven't been swimming since last August so she was pretty excited. Wouldn't you know that when we arrived at the pool, they were closed for swimming lessons for the next two hours. I looked at my little two year old's face and I felt like Clark Griswald driving cross country only to arrive at Wally World to find that they were closed. I did some quick thinking and before throwing a Clark tantrum (which is what I really wanted to do) we headed back to the car and went to the pool on the other campus. It all worked out fine and Claire had a blast. She held on tight when we first got in the water but after a few minutes she only wanted me to hold her around the waist or her arms and she was kicking and blowing bubbles. I used to teach swimming lessons and she is more comfortable in the water than any kid I ever worked with, and they were all at least 3 years old. Claire loved swimming so much she walked around the house all day Sunday in her clothes with her goggles and flip flops on saying she was going swimming again. I guess we'll have to start going more often.
Jumperoo

Mallory started using the Jumperoo this weekend. The bottom picture is a comparison of Claire and Mallory both at 4 months and their first times in the Jumperoo. They both did the same thing, sit there and chew on their hands while staring at the toys. This is the first toy we brought out for Mallory that Claire did not try to get in, but she sure has fun watching Mallory play and showing her how to make the lights and music come on.
